Donald Trump has just been indicted for the fourth time this year.
A grand jury has brought forth a 41-count indictment against the former president for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. Trump and 18 co-defendants are facing charges related to racketeering and conspiracy.
Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani, his former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, and multiple other lawyers including John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, Jenna Ellis and Ray Smith are all named as co-defendants in the case and are charged with violating Georgia's RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization) act. Each of them has until August 25th to surrender to authorities.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis investigated phone calls Trump made to state officials, harassment of election workers by Trump supporters, false claims of ballot fraud, a data breach at an elections office and his attempt to create a slate of bogus electors in the state. (NBC News)
In a Truth Social post overnight, Trump wrote, "So, the Witch Hunt continues! 19 people Indicated (sic) tonight, including the former President of the United States, me, by an out of control and very corrupt District Attorney who campaigned and raised money on, 'I will get Trump.'" Why didn’t they Indict 2.5 years ago? Because they wanted to do it right in the middle of my political campaign. Witch Hunt!"
