Fetty Wap Speaks Out After Being Released From Prison

Fetty Wap is a free man after he was released from prison.

On Thursday, January 8, the New Jersey rapper, born Willie Maxwell II, walked out of a prison in Minnesota after serving a six-year sentence for over drug charges. He was finish out the rest of his sentence at home confinement in Philadelphia until November 8. In a statement shared by The Breakfast Club's Loren LoRosa, Fetty Wap said he's focused on moving forward and making an impact in his community.

“I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for the love, prayers, and continued support—it truly means everything to me," he said.

"Right now, my focus is on giving back through my community initiatives and foundation, supporting at-risk young children by expanding access to education, early tech skills, and vision care for young kids and students so they can show up as their best selves," he continued. "I’m committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most.”

Fetty Wap and and five other associates were accused of buying of cocaine in Long Island and selling it in New York and New Jersey. He was in October 2021 and charged with one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. He pled guilty to the charge and was released, but was arrested again in 2022 after he allegedly waved a gun at a man on FaceTime and threaten to kill him.

The "My Way" rapper will remain under supervised release for the next five years. He must submit to drug tests, seek approval before opening bank accounts and report his earning to the U.S Probation Department. Despite his requirements, Fetty Wap is just happy to be out of prison. In his first post on social media, he simply wrote "Home" in his Instagram Story.
