Sean "Diddy" Combs and J. Cole allegedly got into an argument that evolved into a wild brawl, according to Top Dawg Entertainment's Punch.

Terrance "Punch" Henderson told the story without naming names during the latest episode of Tank and J. Valentine's R&B Money podcast that dropped on Saturday, September 14. Punch recalled how the fight began after he and Kendrick Lamar pulled up to an afterparty at a club in New York City following the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. He said the "homies," a.k.a J. Cole and Diddy, approached Lamar to talk about his verse on Big Sean's "Control."

“We get to the club," Punch explained. "One of the homies approached us and [was] talking about this particular record. So we're going back and forth, ‘Oh, it's not personal. It's just this, this and that. It's cool, whatever, whatever.’”

“Another one of the homies walk up, he look drunk [and] said, ‘Yeah, y'all n***as need to go back and forth and keep it on wax or whatever, whatever, whatever,'" he continued. "So the two dudes who approached, they get into a little back and forth, little argument with each other now. What we didn't know is they got into an argument before we got there."

That's when the situation got ugly. Punch said he went to the VIP section with Lamar, which was packed with people who he described as "the front row of the Grammys." While they were there, the argument between Cole and Diddy got even more tense.

“The homie that got into it with the other one, he’s sitting two steps down from me on the couch,” Punch said. “Then they came back to him, the ones who got an alteration earlier. He was like, ‘Yeah, and if you ever say what you said to me earlier, n***a, I’ll—’ and he grabbed a bottle from the table 'cause he got all of the alcohol. And he said, ‘What you gon’ do? Hit me on my head with a bottle?’ ‘Like nah, I'm gonna break [it] on the table, I'm gonna cut your throat.’”

“It was getting tense," he added. "So the n***a standing on the ground reached up and tried to grab dude by the neck. So dude reached around and fired on him and they both fell on the table, knocking all the drinks over. It’s a scuffle now, a huge scuffle.”

Apparently, one of JAY-Z's friends, Emory Jones, saw the melee and jumped in because he thought Hov was involved. Punch said Jones couldn't see exactly who he was hitting until he pulled one of the guys up and saw that it was Cole. Things calmed down after that and both men were booted from the venue. This isn't the first time Punch has told this story. In 2022, he shared his recollection of the brawl with names during his previous appearance on Math Hoffa's My Expert Opinion podcast. Watch that version of the story below.
